Yes — completely. After downloading the Whisper model you want (one-time, cached locally), AURIS processes everything on your hardware with zero network access. License validation is also offline, using HMAC-SHA256 cryptographic verification. There is no phone-home, no telemetry, no usage reporting.

AURIS never transmits your audio files to any server. The entire transcription pipeline runs locally on your CPU. Cloud transcription services like Otter.ai upload your recordings and may use your data to train their AI models. With AURIS, that's not possible by design.

AURIS Pro uses a BYOK (Bring Your Own Key) model. You need a free Anthropic API key from console.anthropic.com — no subscription required. Each AI Intelligence analysis costs approximately €0.01–0.05 in API credits, billed directly by Anthropic. You keep full control. No data is stored anywhere.

medium (1.5 GB) is the recommended starting point — excellent accuracy at a manageable size. Use large-v3 for the absolute best results on difficult audio: multiple speakers, background noise, heavy accents. Use tiny or base for quick drafts where speed matters more than perfection.

After purchase you receive a key in the format AURIS-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX via email (automated, minutes after payment). Paste it into the AURIS activation screen. Validated locally using HMAC-SHA256 — no internet required, no server to ping, no account to create.

Both use OpenAI Whisper for transcription. Key differences: AURIS runs on both Mac and Windows (MacWhisper is Mac-only); AURIS is €29.99 vs MacWhisper Pro at $79.99; AURIS gives you all 5 Whisper output formats including VTT and JSON; and AURIS Pro adds local AI post-processing with your own Anthropic key.

Your license covers all v1.x updates indefinitely at no extra cost. When v2.0 ships (planned: speaker diarization, batch mode, auto-update), it will be a separate paid release — but existing customers will receive a meaningful discount. You will never lose access to what you already own.

APEX is a monthly subscription tier that adds 7 Google Gemini-powered capabilities on top of everything in Pro: cloud transcription via Gemini 2.5 Flash, full-document AI analysis without truncation, expressive text-to-speech, image generation (Imagen 4), video generation with a built-in NLE editor (Veo 3.1 / Runway), real-time live microphone transcription (Gemini Live), and AI music generation (Lyria 3 Pro). Pro uses your own Anthropic key for analysis; APEX uses a managed Gemini key delivered by Obiriec Labs — no API setup required.

APEX costs €149/month and includes 200 credits. Each operation consumes a set amount: transcription (2 cr), audio TTS (2 cr), live session 30 min (3 cr), image set (1 cr), video clip 8 sec (15 cr), full video reel 3 scenes (40 cr), music 30 sec (5 cr). Credits reset each billing cycle. If you need more, top-up packs are available: 50 cr = €29, 150 cr = €79. Unused credits do not roll over.

APEX operations (Gemini transcription, video, images, TTS, live) require an internet connection since they call Google AI APIs. However, the local Whisper transcription engine remains fully available offline — APEX is a superset of Pro, not a replacement. You can still use all Standard and Pro features without connectivity.
